Breaker Box Installation, Repair, and Replacement
What problems could arise with a Breaker Box?
When your breaker box or electrical panel is not working, there can be some serious issues to your property's electrical structure. One sign of a bad panel is if you can't tell whether a breaker is "on" or "off." That is, no matter what direction the switch it flipped, the appliance does not turn off or on. If this happens, the circuit could have more electricity running through it than it can handle, which can cause a power outage.
Flickering lights are another sign that you could have a faulty panel. While flickering or dimming lights are no doubt very annoying, you could easily grow used to it and eventually not even notice the issue. However, flickering lights are a sign that the electric panel is glitching or that there is an unequal distribution of electricity throughout the system. If unattended this could lead to serious damage throughout the whole breaker system.
If your appliances start to malfunction or are not performing as they should, there's a chance your circuitry and electric panel could be behind it. Is your drying machine turning off before the cycle is over? Is your dishwasher not cleaning dishes completely? Your oven is only heating a fraction of the whole thing? Before you invest in a new appliance, have an electrician check out the status of your electric system. Similar to flickering lights, these situations could be the result of a glitchy and unpredictable breaker box.
Your breakers tripping more often than usual is another sure sign that your circuitry is starting to fail. Tripping breakers happen when there is too much electricity running for that single circuit to handle, so it shuts off the circuit to prevent an electrical fire or smoldering. If a breaker is tripping when you use a specific appliance, chances are that it is getting worn out and needs to be replaced. Fulton Electrician Pros can help you figure out if it needs to be replaced or if you need to add another circuit to the system.
